OHSAS 18001: 2007 (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM)
OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system specification. OHSAS 18001 was created via the concerted effort from a number of the worlds leading national standards bodies, certification bodies, and specialist consultancies, and has been developed to be compatible with the ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) management systems standards. The OHSAS specification gives requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable an organization to control its OH&S risks and improve its performance.
TCTS has implemented an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) as part of its risk management strategy to address the risks faced by its workforce in terms of health and safety. TCTS thus proactively ascertains health and safety risks to its workforce, and takes necessary action to minimise these risks. These initiatives also provide an assurance to the workforce that their well-being is important to the organisation and results in higher levels of satisfaction as well as productivity through fewer injuries and downtime. Safety processes, including training, are applicable to all personnel working in TCTS’ premises, including those on contract or outsourced.
The framework assists TCTS to address regulatory requirements through structured processes that are reviewed on a regular basis. As a part of the Tata Group, TCTS is obliged to comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, and go beyond compliance, wherever possible.
